First off, we want to say that "a good contractor is one that you are still talking with after your job is done!"  Prior to getting started we spoke to many people that underwent large remodel projects - some of whom had horror stories about their experience.  Needless to say, we did our homework by checking the references of several contractors, going to job sites to preview the quality of each ones work and speaking with the homeowners about the good, bad and the ugly of their remodeling projects.  We are very happy that we choose Jared Lewis as our general contractor.  Jared and his team of professionals turned our tired 60-year-old 2 bed 1 bath into an awesome 3 bed 2 bath.  Once we had the necessary permits, Jared's team swooped in with the demolition, foundation and framing, and we quickly began to see the house in three dimensions.  Jared was very organized and had the entire job scheduled, keeping everyone on track including us for the parts we did ourselves.  He had us thinking several steps ahead for the decisions that we would need to make as the project moved along.  If there were delays, it was either the weather or our own decision-making process that were the holdups.  From Jared's own team of craftsmen to the subcontractors he used, everyone was very professional, helpful, friendly, and took great pride in their work.  Jared communicated with us frequently throughout the project, which we appreciated very much.  He ran a clean, tight ship, making our overall experience very positive. We just completed  our very first remodeling job to our house. We added a floor creating a new room, and created a new pantry. We got quotes from several contractors but Jared's customer service won us over and we decided on using him. Boy, are we glad we did. Jared was really good at communicating along the way. At the end of the day he would either stop by or call to follow up on what was done that day and what would happen next. Being first time remodelers this constant line of communication was helpful and important to us. As for timing, Jared was on time with no surprises. At the end of the work day his crew cleaned up with minimal mess left behind. Ownership of the job, this is what impressed us the most. If there were any quality issues either with his crew or with the subcontractors, Jared followed up to make sure they were corrected; almost as if it were his own home being worked on. I hired Jared Lewis Construction to convert an oversized-detached garage into an attached addition to my home.  The 750 sq. ft. conversion consisted of a family room, bedroom, and bathroom.   With Jared’s recommendation, I hired an architect and submitted my plans to Scotts Valley for permits and inspections.  His bid was quite competitive and he met my expectations as to the construction time.

I had a great experience with Jared and his crew on the job.  Jared handled all aspects of the remodel through his team and/or subcontractors.  Jared’s team and subcontractors were all top-notch and I enjoyed having them at my house.  They were all very professional, responsible and courteous.  

Due to a unexpected personal family issue that arose during the construction, Jared was able to accelerate the construction schedule late into the project and finish earlier to accommodate my scheduling challenges.

Jared Lewis recently completed the remodel of our 3 bathrooms. He stayed within budget and they came out beautifully. His workmanship is top notch. He is extremely detail oriented and always made sure we were happy with how the project was progressing. The crew was very clean and highly professional. We talked to several contractors before starting our deck project. We were immediately impressed by Jared’s professionalism and attention to detail. "Jared Lewis is a top notch contractor. His expertise was instrumental in helping us design a beautiful second story deck. He is insightful in anticipating problems expected by county inspectors and getting permits. He provided easy and good looking fixes to design problems such as overhead trellis', and a repair to a sunroom sub flooring. Our cable rail system opens our view onto a forest meadow. Jared was awesome in pointing out the advantages of this system, and it was actually a little cheaper than the closed in tradition rail system. I first became acquainted with Jared Lewis Construction about 3 years ago.  Over the course of this time, I have had the opportunity to visit multiple job sites that Jared was working on.  I was able to see the quality of work and care that Jared puts into his projects.  It has been impressive to say the least.  While Jared's expertise covers many facets of the construction industry, it is in the outdoor deck area that I have associated with Jared.  Jared has taken the time to learn the TimberTech products and become a TimberTech Premier Contractor.  This is a title that we don't hand out loosely.  Jared has also been invited to be on the TimberTech Premier Contractor Council for 2011.   This is a small group of contractors from across the country that attend meetings throughout the year.  They give input and feedback into the development of new TimberTech products for future innovations.  I would highly recommend Jared and his team as someone who cares about the quality of work that they put out.

 Jared is a real professional who makes every effort to ensure that the job is finished on schedule and on budget. He is one of the cleanest contractors I have ever hired. When he leaves the job site every day it is picked-up and swept. He remodeled our bathroom and when he was finished the place was spotless. All that was necessary was to hang the shower curtain and put out the towels. If I had the towels and shower curatin at the time, he probably would have put them out to see how the job looked. I recently needed two bathrooms remodeled and custom closet built.  Since I was not familiar with the local general contractors in my area I used some specific methods to select a qualified contractor.  When this process was completed, selecting Jared Lewis Construction was an obvious first choice for a lot of reasons.   What impressed me the most prior to the project was Jared’s understanding of the design vision I was articulating, as well as his reasonable and fair approach to pricing. I realized just how much I didn’t know, and continued to be impressed with the professionalism from Jared and every member of his team.  One of the things that really impressed me and made the entire project a positive experience was that I was continuously provided with real valuable advice and expertise in a way that was not demeaning.  Everyone worked hard to implement my design vision, while offering value- added advice. "We recently had a new deck and pergola constructed by Jared Lewis Construction Company. We are extremely pleased with the end product of this 2 week project and our interactions with Jared and his crew.

We started with a basic design for the deck shape we wanted, which included an overlook for a fish pond and the need to conform to the hilly topography of the site. Jared worked with us to clarify features of the design that we had not considered, and came up with his own proposals for solving some of the design problems we encountered. When it became clear that a retaining wall would be required to deal with modifications to the sloping site, Jared worked out the design, informed us of the anticipated extra cost, and executed a Change Order to insure we were all in agreement. This regular communication about the status of the project and its costs as we proceeded was greatly appreciated.

The resulting deck and pergola are beautiful. We opted for Timbertech decking and redwood railings and pergola. We were able to stain the redwood pieces as construction proceeded, which was far simpler and less messy than staining at the end of the project. Coordinating this painting with the pace of construction was facilitated by Jared’s regular updates on the work."
